When I was a college student, I have to admit that I got into the 95% pure Ethyl Alcohol (190 proof) from the organic chem lab. Pure as pure gets. 95% is the max out, for it is so absortive that it extracts the final 5% as water vapor out of the atmosphere.
Mix it with something 50/50 and you got 100 proof!
Tasteless stuff, that organic chem lab stuff. Never went over 100 proof with it. It can be dangerous above 150 proof.
I work in an organic lab at a major Pharm. company and we get 500ml bottles of 100% (200 proof) ethyl alcohol. I forget the name of the company that makes it. Oh and it is tax free too!
