I'd better keep my thoughts to myself before I get a 'timeout'.

I don't see where this group invited the other Jesse, the Rev. Jesse Lee Peterson.
Judge Joe Brown probably would have beat him up. Again.

"...invited three dozen
distinguished Black thinkers, religious leaders, labor leaders elected officials including Rep. John Conyers (D-Mich.), the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan, civil rights leader Joseph Lowery, the Rev. Jesse Jackson, the Rev. Al Sharpton and Dr. Michael Eric Dyson among them..."
Major disconnect with the misleading terminology.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that Dr. Thomas Sowell probably wasn't invited either. :)

So where were the distinguished leaders and thinkers? Well, the leaders are there... the same pathetic leaders that are showing their victims how to continue to be victims of their own selves every day of their lives. As for thinkers? Nary a one named.

addressing the problems of our people.
The only problem "(y)our people" have is continually bitching and whining about being "oppressed".
The only people who are oppressed in this country are the ones who don't go out and work and actually produce something besides "words" and "studies" and "reports" and have "meetings" and "committees".
Just STFU and get a job or start a business or move. There are lots' of socialist "paradises" out there for the talkers and naive, stupid utopians.
In my own life, I've found that blaming anybody for anything produces absolutely NOTHING!
As corny as some self help cliches sound, some of them are right. Be PROACTIVE, not reactive.

We in leadership, make a covenant with your people, that we will never sell them out, said Min. Farrakhan.Okay. Why would leadership feel the need to make such a promise?

Rather than compare the economic and social conditions of blacks and whites, I have a suggestion. Try comparing the ecomonic conditions of poor blacks with prosperous ones. For the sake of comparison we will leave out rap stars, entertainers and athletes as they are a special case.
Things to compare include:
education level
marital status
number of out of wedlock children
number and types of criminal convictions/arrests
employment history (years employed, # jobs, # times fired)
drug use
Raised by 1 or 2 parents.
gang membership
I think if blacks can get someone to do a sophisticated analysis for them, the results would be crystal clear as to the problem in their community.
