Nelson Has 22-Point Lead Over Harris In Senate Race
Quinnipiac no internals released poll ^ | 2/24/06

Posted on 02/27/2006 6:28:16 AM PST by SoFloFreeper

In Florida's U.S. Senate race, Democratic incumbent Sen. Bill Nelson leads U.S. Rep. Katherine Harris, his likely Republican challenger, 53 - 31 percent, similar to his lead in August 31, 2005, and November 15, 2005, Quinnipiac University polls. Republicans back Harris 62 - 22 percent, while Democrats back Nelson 82 - 7 percent and independent voters go with the Democrat 55 - 23 percent.

"U.S. Rep. Harris has gained no ground against Sen. Nelson, who has a lukewarm 49 - 20 percent approval rating for the third poll in a row," Brown said.

Because only two out of three Republicans are supporting Harris right now in these polls. If they would get past their defeatist attitudes, donate time and money to and help promote her campaign, before it's too late then Nelson can be sent to an early retirement.

If not, they'll likely try to blame everyone else for her loss.

They are scared of Harris, she has beaten down the dems here in florida every time.

A patriot she is, and she will gain 100% of Republican vote.

God Bless Her.

This race still does not look promising. Why did Harris have to run at all? That she even has an outside chance is because Bill Nelson is such a dullard.

I guess she's going to be the best we can get. But the sad fact is that we can't find anyone to run against Nelson. Soon, he will be as entrenched as Graham was. What we really need is for Jeb to run, but he won't.

Another interesting turn of events. Two weeks ago I posted that the NRSC refused to acknowledge Ms. Harris on its website.

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1578296/posts?page=73#73

Today I found her prominently featured, as one would expect. Even has a nice quoted article underneath the photos.

Quotes: “GOP bigwigs open wallets for Harris” (Jeremy Wallace, “GOP bigwigs open wallets for Harris,” Sarasota Herald Tribune, February 4, 2006)

http://www.nrsc.org

Combine that with the Air Force One ride and Jeb and Toni's public endorsement of her candidacy, and I have to say that things are looking up for her. Will it translate into all-out support (as opposed to just words) like fundraising and networking? We shall see.

I just think it's early. Bill ("Step-in-it") Nelson can plumment quickly. We are a long, long way out.

I agree with you completely. But all this gloom 'n doom talk can become a self-fulfilling prophecy by adversely impacting a candidate's fundraising. So I don't plan to sit idly by and watch a good candidate and a great opportunity go up in smoke.

More signs national leaders are starting to accept her candidacy:

Thirty members of Congress wrote checks to Harris, a Longboat Key Republican, over the last three months of 2005 to bolster her campaign...

The donations included contributions from political action committees run by six members of Congress from Florida, plus prominent national leaders like former Senate Majority Leader Trent Lott of Mississippi and House Majority Whip Roy Blunt Jr. of Missouri...

By contrast, in the previous three-month reporting period from July to October, Harris received just one $1,000 check from a colleague in Congress: U.S. Rep. Mike Pence, R-Ind.

Totally agree. That's why, I think, Blackwell is so far ahead here---he has been having a "Blackwell leading" ad campaign for months.

Yeah, but IMO, Nelson looks like he's hiding a serious illness. Not to wish him ill health but he doesn't look healthy.

FDR syndrome.

My father-in-law found a cure for that. It is called John Kerry.

From childhood on he thought that voting for Republicans would usher in another great depression. His dad ingrained this in his belief system. Conservative as can be but last Pres. election woke him up and voted republican for the first time.

"Anyone know how to get KH t-shirts?"

I just called their campaign office in Tampa (365-7475 from my locale), and spoke to a very nice lady named Donna, who said they had a pile of about 250 shirts looking at her at that moment. $:-)

She's mailing me four of them. First come, first served, gang!
