You would feel so much more secure and happy with Al Sharpton's party in power. Hey, we can turn around our own party with work, we would be slaughtered by the alternative.

Explain the Medicare Pill bill there. I fail to see who the deficit enlarging monster relates to national security.

"We are in danger of becoming the party of Big Government"
LOL, "in danger"? It's a done deal, the GOP is the party of big government and big business. I wish there was a conservative party in the usa.

A revolt is great as long as it is not the usual "cut off our noses to spite our faces" conservative tampturm. The party needs an agenda and conservatives are responsible for providing it and selling it as Newt did before. If we just sit around and screech, we will be playing with Hillary's party and then we will have lost all hope of changing anything.
There are two parties: ours which we are not happy with at the moment - and the Democrats which we will never be happy with. When our party is not doing what we want, it is our fault!

There is a lot wrong with the Republican Party but there is also a lot right with it...
The Dems,on the other hand, are 100% corrupt and enthusiastically committed to destroying the America of our founders and turning our republic into a Marxist state
There are also those Dems and Pubbies who are also committed to global government and who seem to be enemies on one level are also cooperating on another...
The GOP is redeemable...the Dems are not
imo

There are two types of politician. The "party" politician, and the "power" politician. The party politician is a politician who believes in and follows the principals of the party, Republican or democrat. The power politician believes in, and seeks, power.
Currently, the GOP has the power, and naturally the power politicians want to be "Republicans". That's why you're seeing the corruption, spending, etc. that you're seeing. The power politicians have simply switched to the GOP, and have brought their corrupt ways with them. Call them "rinos" if you will, but they do not represent the values of the GOP, but they do have the protection of the party.
It's too bad, and it shouldn't be.
Unfortunately, the GOP will be tarnished with doings of these politicians as long as the GOP is in power. And, then when the democrats regain power(which they will because of the power politicians), the power politicians will gravitate toward them.

can sum it up for you in 3 simple letters and numbers. 9......1......1, W......A......R! This may just have something to do with it. By the way, have you checked into the history of our economic condition and spending during other past wars? If you do, you will see that it is actually remarkable that we have still maintained our economy in comparison. Seek the TRUTH and all else will fade away.... That does not explain the explosive growth of the welfare state and domestic pork barrel spending increases. I feel that you are such a strongly programmed Bush Robot if he would have even quadrupled domestic spending over even these ridiculus levels you still would be a great spin doctor still defending these turncoat and traiters to the conservative cause.

You forgot the third type of politician. The one who follows his ideals and his promises. Once conservatives promise our complete loyalty is the day we lose all power in the republican party. The party will always lean towards the most votes, when the party knows that conservatives can't go anywhere, the party leans left to try to pick off moderate democrats. Bush's plan has been to adopt every democratic plan but a low cost version. Democrats want a 200 billion dollar Medicare, Bush wants 60. Democrats want open borders, Bush wants "guest worker" programs. So with the Democrats we'll hit socialism in 30 years, with Bush's neoCon republican party we'll be socialist in 60 years.

Thank you, GG, for some sane perspective.

"The GOP is redeemable...the Dems are not.."As long as you people are stuck on the two-party mode, nothing of substance will change.
One indication of insanity is; doing the same thing repeatedly but expecting a different result each time.
And there is not the will to change the GOP.
Time to break out of your rut.

Oh yes, designer, the third party option has worked so well for conservatives in the past...it gave us Bill Clinton and will give us Hillary next. You are the one who wants to repeat losing behaviors for positive results.

More later, but an annual growth rate in domestic discretionary spending of 8.2 percent, as oppposed to 2.3 percent under Klintoon, tells a lot of the story. Source for this statistic?

"Nothing will change"
Screams the lunatic fringe stuck on the margins of political irrelevancy. Have fun spending the rest of your life politically irrelevant Des. Getting things done requires compromises. Demanding Ideological Perfection is childish. NOTHING in life is perfect. The solution is NOT to find the 3 people that agree 100% with you and form a political party, the solution is for Conservatives to stop whining and start fighting to take back their party

"..the solution is for Conservatives to stop whining and start fighting to take back their party.."Been there, done that for years.
I have donated money, served on my county's central committee, the platform conmmittee, placed yard signs, arranged for candidates to meet constituents, served as Republican poll watcher, delegate to District, and State conventions, oh, and did I say donated money?
I have discovered that the party is highly resistant to change, and that we do not actually have a voice.
And yes, now that you mention it, third party work is fun!

In regard to 'Big Government Republicans'. I really don't believe there is a workable majority of 'small government believers' out there among the constituents that rel, ably vote GOP. I think there was a moment back in the 80s to 90s time frame when the balance could have been tipped but for now that moment has been passed. There will have to be a massive education and persuasion effort undertaken to bring it back. I am not hopeful it can come back without a serious economic crisis. Even then the crisis could be demagogued into full bore socialism!
Its so much easier and ego fulfilling for politicians to be Santa Claus and so psychologically comforting for voters to be the 'kids at Christmas'.
