Black vote could decide state's gubernatorial race
By David M. Brown TRIBUNE-REVIEW Monday, February 27, 2006
Although blacks make up only about 10 percent of Pennsylvania's population, they could become a critical bloc of voters in deciding the race for governor between incumbent Democrat Ed Rendell, who is white, and Republican challenger Lynn Swann, who hopes to become the state's first black governor.

I don't know about Pennsylvania, but a significan majority of the Black community in Indiana just go in and pull the "D" lever, regardless of the race of the Republican.
I have a feeling we'll see Ed Rendell preaching in a lot of black church pulpits in PA in the months to come.
If blacks make up 10% of the population, then non-black votes are a lot more significant, aren't they?
Depends on if they vote.
didn't some of the MSM report that old #88 was white?
I think that's the same everywhere. They see "Republican" as the equivalent to a vampire seeing garlic or sunlight! Woefully ignorant of the fact that it was the Democrats who kept them back and continue to do so. I hate the almost Borg-like, collective mentality that RUINS my community.
(Denny Crane: "I Don't Want To Socialize With A Pinko Liberal Democrat Commie. Say What You Like About Republicans. We Stick To Our Convictions. Even When We Know We're Dead Wrong.")
no izzy not at all, read the whole column, it is all a math equation, and not a stupid headline but a dead on statement, if you know inside politics at all it is all math
Or rather depends on who votes for them. It's hard sometimes to dig out from six feet under.
With three very strong admirable black conservative candidates in neighboring states there is sure to be quite a conversation this year in Mid Atlantic black America, and I think that is terrific. Just being exposed to these role models is bound to positively influence many lives.
In Georgia the Black pastors collect the absentee ballots and "assist" their flock in their voting.
The Democrat gov and former chairman of the DNC just vetoed the voter ID passed by the Pa house. Ed Rendell need to keep voter ID off the table as he is running for office again and Philadelphia needs the edge. I understand 83% of Penssylvanians wanted the voter ID and that includes both parties. Rendell is slick and he just elected himself to another term by keeping the voter ID out.
"Depends on if they vote."
And how many times.
That "10 percent" of the population has a 220% voting average in each election, so it's formidable.
Well, Swann has to overcome the tens of thousands of blacks who will not even turn out to vote, but somehow they manage to vote for Rendell anyway. Voter roll processing is a hallmark of the Democrat voter fraud machine.
Any chance the white vote will have an impact?
