No, you just made a correlation that might not be accurate. Some countries with bad politics practiced excellent and cutting edge science.
You misread, then. "Bad politics" (i.e., preconceived notions, grounded in political cant, ideology or orthodoxy) most assuredly do make for bad science, when allowed to dictate the findings and conclusions of the latter. (E.g.: Lysenko)
