Yes I stand behind that comment. And, I can back that up biblically. People go to church for different reasons. Worshipping the living Lord is only one of them. John spoke of people who were once with the church that weren't really one of the church. He said that they were never of the church or else they wouldn't have left it. Hence my comment, it's not where you are at, it is who is in your heart that makes the difference.
I'll stand behind his comment. If you think everyone who goes to church is a Christian, you are quite naive.
In addition to worshipers, there are folks there to listen to the music, there are folks there out of tradition, there are folks there for business development reasons (either networking, or in smaller cities because it helps to belong to the right church.) There are folks dragged there by family members.
They are all welcome, since they might be called through the hearing of the Word.
