COPENHAGEN: Danish newspaper Jyllands-Posten, which angered the Muslim world by publishing cartoons of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) last year, has won a Danish critical journalism award for its initiative.
Denmarks largest daily was honoured with the Victor Prize for having opened everyones eyes by showing how easy it is to introduce cracks in freedom of expression and how so-called political correctness is infiltrating what we believe to be inalienable rights, said Hans Engell, the editor of tabloid Ekstra Bladet which awards the prize, during a prize ceremony in Copenhagen late on Thursday.
The Victor Prize, named for the late editor-in-chief of Ekstra Bladet Victor Andreasen, was handed to Jyllands-Postens editor Carsten Juste. This prize is awarded to Jyllands-Posten for its adamant defense for months of freedom of expression, which is under threat, said Engell. Jyllands-Posten only did its duty: exercise its right to freedom of expression, he added.
Juste, guarded by two secret service bodyguards, noted, how fragile freedom of expression is as he accepted the award, his newspaper reported. afp
Give them a Pulitzer too.
Bravo!!
They are allowed to criticize our nation's military because they know it protects them from scum like these riotters. They should have picked a date for every paper in the country to publish these cartoons, all on the same day--WITHOUT the fake ones the mullahs or whoever invented--as a sign of solidarity.

Excellent.
It would never happen in "free" America.
Somebody should give the 'slims a sense of humor!
Mad Moe is the only one that can and that pedophile is dirt napping.
May he burn in hell.
continue.
Imagine if some left wing artist created an exhibit that was offensive to Christians which was exhibited at an art gallery. Of course we know that this has already happened.
Now imagine that the leader of some conservative Christian organization wanted to get his supporters riled up over this exhibit, but he didn't think that the exhibit was offensive enough. So he gets some artist to create a few extra pieces of artwork that are much more offensive than what was contained in the exhibit, and then lied to his supporters and told them that they were part of the exhibit.
Does anyone doubt that the MSM would go nuts over this fabrication? Does anyone doubt that every liberal newspaper, network, etc, would show the fabricated works back to back with the original works?
Yet the fact that these fanatical imans fabricated 3 extra cartoons that were much more offensive than the original 12 Danish cartoons is treated as completely irrelevant by the MSM. Yes, many media outlets mentioned the fact that these imans fabricated the 3 extra cartoons. But that had absolutely no effect on their take on the overall story which was "the poor 'oppressed' Muslims have been offended by the evil White man, shame on the evil White man".
How stupid does the MSM think we are? I can't wait until the next time they try to sock it to religious Christians and then start talking about the sanctity of free speech. Let's knock them off their high horse before they get one foot in the stirrups.
"Give them a Pulitzer too."
Wishful thinking, I'm afraid. In this episode little tiny denmark has shown a lot more balls than the the media apparatus in the US.
Or WITH the fake ones, but with a clear indication that they were included by a lying imam with the intention of causing the riots and a call for his prosecution for the resultant deaths.
Surely you are misinformed.
Draw some pictures of the Virgin Mary covered in animal dung and pornography, and your "art" will be praised and published in the New York Times.
Heck, throw a crucifix in a jar of urine, and you get yourself some serious praise from the art community.
But don't you dare draw a cartoon of Mohammed!!! That is just so insensitive to religion!!! Psshhtt...
