Hey, that's why I said, "I'm a great admirer of Wal-Mart because of the excellence they bring to the pursuit of their mission, which is to serve their customers by offering everyday needed items at the lowest possible cost."

Wal-Mart is an excellent company. Whether everyone likes 'em isn't the point. Personally, I don't like 'em. Not to shop there, at least. Just not my preference.

Other folks don't like what they do to communities, to supplier businesses, etc. Not every one of those criticisms is without foundation. But in many cases, the substance of the criticisms is just the flip-side of the benefits that Wal-Mart brings.

Some criticisms, however, are entirely beyond the pale and utterly without foundation.

That is when I get riled up - no one is holding a gun to anyone's head forcing them to do business with, work for or shop in WalMart or any other retailer for that matter.

Due to the nature of the area I live in, unless I wish to drive 50 miles (I don't) there are only 2 major retailers around here, WalMart and Peeble's, I shop in both, especially now that Peeble's has openned a store directly across from WalMart and I don't have to drive 30 miles in the other direction to get to one.

I don't like broad brush generalizations, and I try my best to avoid them, but even I am guilty on occassion of painting with one :)
