I have no assurance that Republicans are concerned more about security than about their own power, with which they have grown expansively comfortable.
1) It was forced to enter that port for political reasons. The military complained that the did not trust the security of the port.
2) The UAE currently plays host to the largest collection of U.S. Navy ships outside of the United States. It is the key port in keeping our troops in Iraq and Afghanistan supplied. The military has repeatedly stated that the services they receive are excellent and that the UAE is a valuable allie in the WoT.
What amazes me is that the majority of these Freepers never believe the MSM, but now it's the gospel.
The spin on this whole deal is incredible.
There is not mistaking you for someone else.
They'll have access to what's coming in and out of the ports will they not? With only 5% of the cargo inspected at any given time that knowledge will enable terrorist infiltrators to slip through almost anything they want.
A congressional investigation into this government-owned company is warranted given this country's past terrorist ties, if they're squeaky clean what's there to worry about?
So politics is your motivation, not port security.
Wow I really like your answers to the valid points I and others have made. The flippant responses proves you haven't got any. Fortunately Congress won't be listening to your shallow side.
What amazes me is how many so-called conservative pundits on the radio and in the columns jumped on this myth from the start and continue to push. I was shocked to see Cal Thomas, this late into the game, talking about DPW getting control of our ports.
NO, you obtuse thing! I was talking about AMERICAN SECURITY!!! What the British and Aussies do is up to them. What I say and how I vote in AMERICA is up to me. And I do not trust auto-Bushbots with the time of day either.
Oh, but they cite the likes of Malkin, Coulter and Buchanan; all of whom reacted hysterically, complete with their signature venom.
Nice try but nobody's listening to the MSM, especially Rush Limbaugh where apparently some of you are getting your talking points.
Yes! It is an awful idea- Whew- close one!
OTOH- no it isn't that was *never* part of the deal- that is only hysterical ranting by fools.
Valid? You're not interested in valid points. You're not interested in port security. You're only interested in the same political agenda that always drives you.
still doesnt answer the manifest questions. If this was a quid pro quo for attack on Iran, I have know Idea what has happened to the political elegance that this administration showed a couple years ago. It is just not like them to be making such poor political calls. They could have easily sold this if they just put the work in to inform the constituancy. This is the same thing with Meyers nomination, illegal imigration, etc.
Just ignore the political blindspot and just assume we will go along. I dont know if Rove is on vacation but these are happening too much.
That is what you're concerned with, not security at all.
DPW having access to what they load and unload at their terminals will not enable terrorist to do anything.
DPW has no clue as to what we will be searching.
Also, the vast majority of DWP workers at the terminals will be US Citizens.
This whole story is BS and is being overblown.
No security is what mattersmost of all, not political correctness. That is why I think YOU are being poilical!
That's right, national security is driving me. It's been alleged the UAE has ties to terrorists and I want to know more about them before the deal proceeds.
Yes it is. What a shame that some people use it as a smoke screen for their political agendas.
