Why not? A less evolved member of a group is killed while a more evolved member of the same group may triumph, or escape to breed.
I think an example would be the white moths that were made visible by pollution in Britain. More evolved moths were born gray, thus were harder for moth killers to see. Gray moths survived while the white moths went extinct.
