I spoke to someone who saw BROKEBACK , and she said the dialogue is SPARSE. How does that qualify for best picture when Walk the Line required so much more of its actors.

I refuse to go and see Backside Mountin'.
I rearly go to see films that I know are painful in the end.

I'm not watching this Hollyweird Clown Show. I have not seen a feature film in a theatre in about a year. Mostly, I keep my television turned off. DVDs are far more entertaining. Television news has stayed in the "off" mode for about five year now. Why endure commercials and infomercials? Nobody is selling anything I want to buy and why buy cheap crap made overseas anyway? Life is more peaceful listening to classical music.

Makes me wonder how many members of the Academy are either members of NAMBLA or convicted sex offenders.

My bet is "Bareback Mountain" will clean up in an Academy Awards show that has the lowest viewing audience of all time.

Doc, you have to understand that what goes on in Hollywood and the East Coast is purely to please the soft-headed liberals who make most of the films...
Going to a Hollywood film nowadays makes me itch... And that is something for a robot!

I was listening to the radio the other night, and the host was talking about some nutty article that was going on and on about how "America loved the way that Hollywood was tackling these 'weighty issues' in this years Oscars." Then he went on to ask, "America loved it?" I believe that he said that the best performing movie nominated for "best picture" was the #33 box office dollar earner this year. "The Pacifier" with Vin Diesel as a SEAL baby sitter outperformed all of those movies!
And I was at a family dinner last night when the topic came up... My aunt had seen "Brokeback Mountain," which she said was really dull, but she was the only person who had seen any of the movies nominated for best picture. Nobody else had seen a single one. Heck, the last movie I saw in the theaters was Harry Potter. I kept meaning to see Narnia, but never had the time: But it'll be out on DVD in a month or so.

I can't say I was surprised. I am not watching the Oscars. Hollywood can have its "Brokeback Mountain" night - without me.

Hollywood loves movies that "give the finger" to red state Americans.
The first few times it was shocking -- like watching the high school slut walk off behind the gym for the 5th time. Now it's just creepy.
