While I do not know Kim Walker personally, I know of her through my son. I made the connection when I read this article posted. My son has worked under her and had nothing but high praise for her. My son told me about her on many occasions and her commitment to the Marines that work with her is inspirational.
Traditionall,
You comments about single moms was unnecessary to this article. Yes the fact may be that there is an absentee "father" in this story, this doesn't take away from the accomplishments this woman overcame through her hard work and dedication. As for your racial comments you should be ashamed of yourself. They disgust me.

Congratulations Kim Walker
from a Single Marine Mom

As luck would have it, I would be the next post (hopefully). I am MarineMom613's Son and I wanted to amplify this info. Leaving everything else aside as I think my mom shared my sentiments about some comments made.

Master Gunnery Sergeant Walker was above the term exemplary Marine. Mission Accomplishment and Troop Welfare were a way of life in the way she ran her section. I had the privilege of working for her directly for approximately 4 months last year and we still stay in touch (I work directly across the street from her). When I learned of her promotion, I did not realize that it was going to bring this much attention, but I do know that her children are her life, she always speaks highly of them (No matter how batty kids drive their parents, ask my mom).

Her devotion to family and duty are a true inspiration and I am honored to have been able to work for her!

"You comments about single moms was unnecessary to this article"

Pointing out the slant of the media seems to be more and more necessary as it is totally being missed by too many Americans today.

Do you think a MALE with similar circumstances would have been given this much attention?
