Those of us who enjoy military history usually just switch on the History Channel for our daily fix of guts, gore and armed conflict. But if you’re a serious war buff, and you want to relive one of the most horrifying moments in the deadliest war in human history, an Italian toy maker has just the thing.

Brumm recently unveiled miniature models of “Little Boy” and “Fat Man.” Those names may conjure up images of cuddly cartoon characters, but they’re actually the codenames for two atomic bombs that the U.S. military dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki in the final days of World War II.

Brumm has been making die-cast automobiles in that scale for several decades...it's a standard scale for die-cast car collectors (along with 1/25th), just as 1/72nd or 1/48th are for aircraft model-builders, and 1/35th is for armor builders.

No kidding. What's weird about this then is that if you were to build these models being delivered, it would have to be delivery by truck. I liked to build bombers with bombs coming out of the bomb bay (they only way to properly to hang a bomber from the ceiling, IMHO). Can't do that with these models of the two most important bombs in history. Silly.
