If the deal were to be rejected, presumably bids would be solicited from the Singapore and the Chinese group. I don't think that will happen, but short of forming a new government entity like Amtrack to act as a holding company (Lord help us), those basically are your options...or else pay P&O to break their deal out of taxpayers dollars and do what they've been doing. No alternative is really palatable, in addition to the foreign policy aspects.
