He referred to Howard as a "cultural warrior" and pointed out that, in Europe, statements like the Australian leader's "have seen government ministers in several countries condemned by their colleagues," with the result that some had "lost their jobs." Windschuttle concluded: "Howard's comments may signify that a line has finally been drawn in the Western political mentality."

This is not warfare, it isn’t even abusive. It’s just common sense.

Actually, such a statement by Aussie muslims makes it clear that they have no intentions of assimilating. Otherwise, why would they see this as warfare?

Australian Treasurer Peter Costello criticized what he called "mushy, misguided multiculturalism." …Costello observed, alluding to Muslims who advocate adherence to sharia law (religious law): "There is one law we are all expected to abide by. It is the law enacted by the parliament under the Australian constitution. If you can't accept that, then you don't accept the fundamentals of what Australia is and what it stands for."

I think this an even better quote from the article.
