All Bush's Fault? (So far it is the pundits who are doing the backtracking, not the President.)

C'mon bud, you got to be smarter than that. That is what I would expect from Michael Moore, not a FReeper.

DPW is operating in Ports all over the world and they are into making money not Jihad. My Brother has been to Dubai at least 20 times as well as every other Country in the Middle East except for Iran and Syria and he says Dubai is like visiting a 5 star resort.

Sure there is a risk that somebody could infiltrate DPW and do us harm, but that is the case with any international company doing business here

THAT is the legislation that Hillary and Menendez are proposing that NO foreign country be able to purchase the rights to do business at the ports, just as the airlines are now as far as I know.

Ok, then they have to kick Singapore out of California

Michelle Malkin is against any foreigner doing business here or migrating here ever since the day here and here family came here. I have no respect for her anymore at all

Malkin has been on my dog list ever since she tried to play Miss-Goody-two-shoes over Laura Bush's hilarious remarks to the National Press Club.

For a woman who has to put up with being called a "gook" in her emails, she certainly exhibits a mean xenophobic streak herself.

They would have to shut down all our ports. Currently there are no U.S. companies performing these functions.

Maybe it's all just an evil plot by the President and his buddy Hal Burton...and Walmart.

It seems like there is always SOMETHING that President Bush has to fight..and although I get tired of seeing posts complaining about how he shoulda done this, or should done that...

I just PRAY that maybe Karen Hughes will stop whatever she is doing...and start heading off problems...

I think that when this was reported on in November, and no Congresscritters raised a fuss...or any of the public did either, the White House just assumed that when it was finalized they didn't need to say anything beforehand...

I wonder if Soros, who is a big money player in the world, is the one that called the dems and told them to make a big stink about this last week??

Don't forget that Malkin has also said the U.S. should round up every Arab in the country and put them into concentration camps without cause or a trial. In her mind, and the minds of some here on FR, Arab=Terrorist. They're all too blind to realize that not all Arabs are even Muslims much less all being terrorists..

it opens the door for observation(s).

Thats a BS argument, if they wanted intel or observations all they would have to do is infiltrate the Longshoreman Union. Personally I HOPE those people are screened by the FBI.

Exactly, I used to visit her Blog, and read her stuff, That stopped for me as well, when she jumped all over Laura Bush for injecting comedy at an event where people took the podium to make comical remarks

No better place to infiltrate than from the "manage" perspective, so for your statement of my arguement being BS, sorry but my arguement is far from BS.

Bush didn't want anyone to find out the facts on this deal. He wanted to rush it through next week. If it wasn't for us, there would have been no debate.

Nice try. Why don't you just admit you overreacted?

Nothing, NOTHING, about this deal will change. So, after dumb-asses have been trotted through the details like school-children, there will still be no debate, because Congress is going to let this deal go through with egg on their faces.

Who needed debate? It took less than 2 hours to find out what needed to be found out. This deal has been around since last November. Anyone who was uninformed (particularly in congress) just hasn't been paying attention. Anyone who didn't know that Dubai has been used successfully by our military is negligent.

How is it that congress is so uninformed about how our ports work? Is it the president's job to teach the house and senate how things have worked for years?

Why would Freepers, who are supposed to be some of the most informed people in this country so quick to run off the cliff after people like Clinton and Shummer?

"Ihad to turn Sean off today...he's had several people from the WH on his show explaining everything in detail, but he still doesn't get it......"

I think he gets it but he is saving face. I roll my eyes every time he starts talking about how the UAE won't support Israel. For crying out loud that would be suicide for the UAE! It's like saying to them, "If you are really, really, truly our friends you will cut your own legs off." Sean has a great heart and I think he's a great American but sometimes he is kind of vacuous. However at Other times he really shines.

So far, though, it is the pundits who are doing the backtracking, not the President.

And lashing out at the administration for being the cause of their kneejerk reactions. I'll respect these folks when they stop scapegoating the President for not doing their homework first.

I've admitted I was less than favorable to this at the start, but I held my tongue. I held my tongue because I knew nothing about ports. I've waited for facts to emerge. If arguments for both sides were placed on a weighting scale today, the balance favors the administration's position. That is why their positions are shifting.

Now should someone have known on a basic level Saudi Arabia plus U.S. ports just on the surface as a soundbite would be bad? Yeah, absolutely. But for these folks to DARE to castigate the administration as being equitable in their own failings, please. One was a lack of foresight. Another was sloppiness, laziness, and being a slave to prejudices and fear rather than researching facts.

From where I stand unless your name is Rush Limbaugh, Tony Snow? , Mark Steyn?, and even someone I hate giving credit to---John McCain--as well of a handful of others you haven't any room to shift blame to the administration. Time to be grounups again and admit they screwed up and leave it at that.

I do have a pet peeve with this administration...I've had it for 5 and 1/2 years....they are always on defense, they wait until an issue becomes a political firestorm and then they react....it's hard to defend them when they take so long to defend themselves.....this issue has been out there for several weeks but the MSM and rats were too consumed with Cheney's hunting accident to pay attention...the WH should have brought this up 2 weeks ago.......and I do believe thay the President now has to come out and address this issue to the nation....

That s because its never been a issue before. Check NSCSA.com. The National Shipping Company of Saudi Arabia has brought port terminals for years and nobody has said a word. They still aren't saying anything. The fact is this is a common practice and hardly ever noticed except in the Wall Street Journal. This became a issue because a democrat running for Mayor in Baltimore misrepresented the fact and everyone jumped on the band wagon. The Saudis started buying terminals as early as 1979 but there are some Arab companies that purchased terminals earlier than that.

oh, I thought you were saying that we didn't have a shipping company. I know they bought American CSX's operations 2 years ago but im sure we still have some US companies that do this type of business

You have no clue what a classic NIMBY is then. If you can find one statement where I said it's fine for DP in your state

I stand corrected then. Which Muslim country would you like to invite to your neck of the woods to run some things? Maybe you can get the Palestinians to handle bus security there.
