I would fire the asshat who put the White House in this position...even if he is a senior aide.

"Bush would accept slight delay in ports deal-Rove"
If congress has enough votes to override a veto, he'll have to accept whatever they give him.

"Bush would accept slight delay in ports deal-Rove"
Bush will accept whatever delay (including scaping) in the ports deal if FReepers are 54% against. I am not even including the heinous democrats that are just against this because of the politics. It's over Mr. Prez... let it go.
To: Sub-Driver
This is classic Rove "rope-a-dope". As when he had the entire country fooled and 'allowed' Al Gore to come within a few hundred votes of the Presidency, making a 'sure thing' victory over Kerry come down to one state, the masterful 'strateregy' in promoting Social Security privatization...and I could go on but I'm humbled and left speechless before the "genius".

"WASHINGTON, Feb 23 (Reuters) - President George W. Bush would accept a slight delay in permitting Dubai Ports World to acquire a British company that operates six key U.S. ports, senior White House adviser Karl Rove told Fox News."
Why is this coming from the President's political adviser instead of State or Homeland security or even the President's spokesman?

It's going to be the 12th of Never. The override is there.
My confidence in this President has never been shaken like this before. I've put up with the "Religion of Peace" crap since 9-11 as pure politics. But this port deal is beyond the pale.
Muslims are the ememy. Period. Letting them profit from ANY business operations in our country amounts to us just selling them the noose to hang us with in the future.

I suspect the end game is that US ports will be sluffed off, from the deal. What the company really wanted were the more profited Asian ports poised for huge growth. The US ports were just poor cousins. That was in the WSJ I think. Hopefully, the US ports will be sold off to some union busting outfit, say from Singapore. Apparently, the buyer just announced a delay in that part of the deal. That I suspect is the precursor to the sluff.

Now Chertoff is saying he didn't know until the deal was approved! He (Secretary of Homeland security) is a member of CFIUS who was supposed to be in the CFIUS meetings, it needs his approval to go forward. What the heck is going on???
