They decided that this was a chance to look strong on defense and Bush was stupid enough to give them the issue.

Aha, so the ignorance of you and so many others to the workings of this deal can all be traced back to Dubya's stupidity.

Why look at ourselves when we can just point fingers?

It's going to be the 12th of Never. The override is there.

My confidence in this President has never been shaken like this before. I've put up with the "Religion of Peace" crap since 9-11 as pure politics. But this port deal is beyond the pale.

Muslims are the ememy. Period. Letting them profit from ANY business operations in our country amounts to us just selling them the noose to hang us with in the future.

Well, hey, that's great! I just clipped my toenails and sang an off-key rendition of "Charma Chameleon."

Bush couldn't do anything.

The deal was already done and according to the law congress passed in 1988 bush can only reopen the deal for investigation if the company lied in the application process.

This was a huge set up.

Schumer knew about the deal for months but waited until after the bidding process when singopore dropped out to raise objections.

Schumer could have raised this early on and singapore would have won just like chevron won from political heat from the china deal.

I have never feared for this country more in my life.

We are going to get a pelosi landslide to take san francisco nationwide.

When al gore gets no attention for what he said in saudi arabia and pelosi gets no attention as the leader of the dems democracy has died.

I have never felt more sick of politics in my life. The voters are going to take their anger out by making nancy pelosi speaker of the house then hillary rodham president.

I don't know about HRC, but having witnessed this lemming-like mass political suicide on FR the past few days, I am afraid these "conservatives" so worried about national security will go about harming our national security during the November elections -- all in the name of national security.

It is rather sad that while the Rebublicans are charged with and do run the govt. all the rats can manage is attack, attack, attack even with the country at war.
We need to figure out, sooner rather than later, that all they are is once giant attack machine that is out to get us all the time and then take the appropriate measures!! We need to anticipate their every move just like they do ours and act accordingly for a change.

it will not go through "as is".

there will need to be additional review, and additional assurances and security protocols put in place. if the administration were smart - it would go on offense and propose some of those additional assurances and security measures, drop those waivers in the CFIUS application, etc.

if they want it to go through, the administration is going to have to act affirmatively to make it happen. not just sit back with a "trust us" message - if that's all we've got to say during the next 45 days on this, then we might as well kill it now and not suffer anymore political damage.

No. I think they're only trying to difuse the situation by deferring the catastrophe slightly. Not enough to calm the waters or save face, though.

This is treason. Pure and simple.

The elites do not care about you and me; they only care about strenghening their own elitist fortress in preparation for what is to come, thanks to their inane immigration policies which is turning our country into something between a Mexico and a Haiti. And we are the dummy ones voting for "the party." My people's collective is the party, not the parties, be them rep or dem.

Congress passed the law in 1988 making the process secret.

Congress set up this committee so these deals would be out of politics.

Congress also wanted the companies to be able to make a deal and keep their privacy.

Free trade is dead after this deal. Who in the world would want to go through this crap.

This deal is the biggest hypocracy dozens of arab shipping companies use our ports all the time.

China and singapore are very involved. Enough is enough.

I am scared out of my mind that pelosi is going to be speaker and hillary rodham president.

The dems will be able to pick all the judges they want for the next generation.

This country has moved far left. Canada is more conservative than America is now.

America is gone so far left they can't wait to get pelosi as speaker of the house an extreme liberal from san francisco.

This country deserved gore who goes to saudi arabia and bashes the abuses of america rounding up arabs after 9/11.

This country deserves gore who in front of sheiks screams how america doesn't give more visas to saudi arabia.

When we get pelosi as speaker of the house and an al gore like president the poster boy to blame is that dobbs fraud.

Right it's a political voice not a "normal" channel. All the folks that think Rove is so sharp. I think maybe he just got too arrogant or ahead of him self on this one. Time will tell.

Oh, yeah, sure. We'll all vote commie lib because Bush went off the reservation once. You must think some of us are dummies. You see, dissent can be a good thing at times. Bush is a decent president. But he listened too hard to his ding -a-lings this time and he's paying for it.
