I fly, but only a couple of times a year, and I see the same people at security as I see working in Mickey D's. Apparently, they arent high paying jobs.

All in all, we really could be doing a lot better at security in the ports, airports, and borders, but we're not, and one day there will be hell to pay, my friends.

"Y'all are trying to insinuate that the UAE is a terrorist breeding ground and that is simply not true.

Umm, Trish...

What they are is a Star Wars bar room of characters of international money-laundering operation, third-party trading partner with our enemies, ignorer of international sanctions, former recognizer of the Taliban, refuse to recognize Israel, AND their Islam cult of a "religion" and suseptiblity to ANY Islamic influence makes them an extreme and unnecessary risk to American port security.

Because the phony Dems are exploiting this can't nor doesn't influence OUR opinion on the matter one bit. p>The Bush Administration in their sloppy handling of this issue will not "win" EITHER way this shakes out from a PR standpoint, a trust standpoint, nor strategically.

Meanwhile, conservative stalwarts Mark Levin, Sean Hannity, Ann Coulter, Michelle Malkin, and Laura Ingraham are considered unimformed idiots and reactionaries by the usual cabal of Bush-bots??

It is sad but anyone who doesn't go along with the program will be branded the same way. I've even seen them castigating Phyllis Schlafly for her views. It's unbelievable.

If you thought the Chinese purchase of Unocal was a national security risk, you better think this is more serious.

Your argument is the best I've seen so far for that viewpoint.

The real news is being missed completely!

Why are American ports operated by foreign companies?

What can be done to promote American companies to do the same job?

If I was a smart Democrat polititian, I would make this the big issue.

Trouble is that the Dems. most likely created the obstacle course of taxes and red tape that drove American firms out of the port business.

It's too bad that common sense doesn't come into play when government gets involved.

If it is such a national security issue to keep our ports safe, then why the hell hasn't the work been done to reestablish an American footprint in American port operations!!!

The government bailed out Chrysler....why not subsidize the ports?!

Why are you so quick to call people ignorant and idiots?

It's easier than defending an indefensible position. It's one nasty habit that a few freepers have picked up from the left over the years: "You disagree with THIS? You must be an idiot, buffoon, racist, homophobe, [insert-your-favorite-perjorative]."

The notion that there's no difference between a U.S. port being owned by the UK (our staunchest ally) and the UAE is a notion that falls flat on its face after even a cursory examination. As for the defense that "Saudis already own U.S. port operations," that's no defense. That too is unconscionable, and if this UAE issue shines more light upon it, good.

Rush is being lazy (even as he gargled the koolade)....And obviously doesn't want to truly touch this subject with a 10-foot pole.

They're union jobs. Can't fire people for being lazy, inept, or downright stupid.

Correct you are.

"Lesson One of Portgate: Scream "Islamophobia/xenophobia" often enough, and people will start to back down.

Lesson Two of Portgate: Mislead and mischaracterize your critics often enough, and people will start to back down." (Michelle Malkin)

They are also home to a military base of ours, one of our better sources of intelligence, and one of only four other Arab/Muslim countries who can be called allies of ours in the whole of the ME.

There you have it, Sir James.

Rush is rarely wrong, but now even HE is drinking koolade..

It's more like...

Rush, Tony Snow, Bill O'reilly, vs. Mark Levin, Sean Hannity, Ann Coulter, Michelle Malkin, and Laura Ingraham, and Michael Savage.

Logical analysis vs. knee-jerking and since I took a jerk position I'm not changing it!

Guess who's the knee-jerks are?

I know all about the key military base, and "allied" relationship, but as a "source of intel," THAT go BOTH ways. Still, it doesn't mean anything changes over THER, does it?

The UAE is simply not clean enough to be entrusted on OUR turf with our ports.

And make no mistake -- the fact that they are MUSLIM is part of the equation. That is NOTHING to apologize for (yes, I've noticed your tagline.)
