Rational people think so, but the hatred borne by Leftists towards Conservatives, and which burns in their minds and hearts, blinds them to reality as it focuses their entirety upon vengeance and the attainment of their desires.

The left is busy licking the boots of the Islamic savages while they both fight their common enemy: God. The left and Islam are simply two different expressions of the same phenomenon - EVIL. Perhaps Islam represents a more highly refined evil than the garden variety evil we see on the left, but I'm not absolutely sure. Evil begets evil. Thus, despite the apparent conflicts between the stated goals of Islam and the left they can find common cause in their fight against God.
