Clinton raps vouchers BY GLENN THRUSH WASHINGTON BUREAU

February 22, 2006

Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton slammed private-school voucher proposals yesterday, predicting that vouchers would eventually lead to the creation of taxpayer-financed white supremacist academies - or even a government-funded "School of the Jihad."

Clinton, a longtime voucher foe who earned the backing of the city teachers union in 2000, says government financing of sectarian groups would incite ethnic and religious conflict - and encourage fringe groups to demand government cash to run their schools.

President George W. Bush has long favored laws that require states to provide vouchers, a position that earned him the allegiance of conservative Christian groups that have clamored for public education dollars.

"First family that comes and says 'I want to send my daughter to St. Peter's Roman Catholic School' and you say 'Great, wonderful school, here's your voucher,'" Clinton said. "Next parent that comes and says, 'I want to send my child to the school of the Church of the White Supremacist ...' The parent says, 'The way that I read Genesis, Cain was marked, therefore I believe in white supremacy. ... You gave it to a Catholic parent, you gave it to a Jewish parent, under the Constitution, you can't discriminate against me.'"

As an adoring, if somewhat puzzled, audience of Bronx activists looked on, Clinton added, "So what if the next parent comes and says, 'I want to send my child to the School of the Jihad? ... I won't stand for it."

The former first lady said that vouchers would also accentuate divisions, singling out government-financed Protestant and Catholic schools in Northern Ireland and similar arrangements in the Netherlands as examples of poorly functioning systems.

The liberals will be sure to create those schools just so they can complain about them.

This is from a woman who sent her daughter to Sidwell-Friends School ($20k+ tuition). Public schools were not good enough for Chelsea Clinton, but they are good enough for our kids.

Apparently Mrs. Clinton thinks there is a large unsatisfied demand for KKK schools.

My question is will they be run like plantations? And will we "know what she's talkin about"?

She must really be in debt to the teacher's union to come out with this garbage..

And, what if President Bush had said something even remotely like this..

Didn't the Washington DC school district go with vouchers...and it was going well???

What part of FREEDOM do Hillary and her ilk not understand. She is so bad.

Does she think she can expose her true marxist self now, (for whatever stupid reason I cannot figure out). And then do a 180 and spin a web of moderate deceipt in 2008?

what am I saying. Of course she can. She has the mighty liberal media at her beck and call.

Since a major beneficiary of vouchers would be low-income minority families, the Hildabeast must be worrying that lots of black parents will decide to send their chiildren to white supremacist academies.

She makes up as the name of a parochial school St. Peter's Roman Catholic School. I don't think there are many Catholic schools in the country that have "Roman" in their name.

She not only says it, she believes it. As other have pointed out she's scared witless about school kids having opportunities other than the day in and day out indoctrination of the publik skool system.

Her rhetoric is pretty over the top. Wonder if she temporarily escaped her handlers. Or, maybe she's going the way of demented Al Gore.

No matter, she CANNOT HIDE WHO SHE IS. This one goes out to my email list.

Hillary Clinton sent Chelsea to an exclusive private school.

So, what's her real beef with allowing ordinary parents, who aren't as rich as the Clintons, to get the same kind of education for their children?

Could it be that like many prominent Democrats, she's heavily reliant on the teachers' unions for money and manpower so she has to slavishly adhere to their positions on the issues even if the children suffer for it?

Bingo, that's exactly what her opposition to vouchers is really all about: protecting members of the teachers' unions from competition.

How many SEnators, Representatives, Presidents and Vice Presidents sent their kids to private vs. public schoools while they were in office? Can anyone get a stat on THIS because these people always want to prevent Joe America from private education while they take advantage of it because they live off the wealth of their salaries that WE PAY THEM to work FOR US! Can anyone explain this? Meanwhile, I pay my taxes PLUS send my kids through the private school system because I DON'T want them getting a liberal education that is against everything my husband and I have tried to teach and live in our home!

Her opposition to vouchers mainly shows her lack of concern for the education of her inner-city constituents.

And her unswerving allegiance to the teachers' unions.

The education of American children is low on the educrats' list of priorities...
