It's the seductive and intoxicating power of the Zot.
Many a life have been ruined by it.
Even if it isnt in breaking a simple search will show it 99 times out of 100.
Often its the comments on the story too that I am looking for, to see how others percieve something that seems important.

I see no reason for a zot.
Sometimes week old news is relevant to whatever's happened today. At any rate, if you have time why not get busy reading, watching, scanning news magazines, digests, foreign sources, and then post to your heart's content. The more the merrier, and we'll all enjoy.

Actually, I'd say that the big difference is greater attention from the Sidebar Moderators. There used to be many more stories posted as Breaking News, and they would push the older stories off the bottom quicker. Now, I think the Moderators take a lot of stories off the sidebars that they judge to be less important or undeserving of that much focus. Stories they judge more important are left on the sidebar longer.
So there has been a change, I'd agree, from the way things were a few years ago or maybe even a year ago. For what it's worth, I think it's a positive change as far as the really important stories are concerned, because people can find them more easily if they haven't been here for a day or two. But it's less positive in that a lot of interesting newer stuff tends to get lost before people have a chance to see it.
You can't win 'em all. If you want to find all the news you just have to scroll through a few screens of stories to find anything you've missed.
