Not surprising. The unelected, faceless bureaucracy makes about 95% of the policy decisions in this country. The President can't keep up with every one.

Now this is what you call "bad staff work." Dubya should have known about this. How could the White House staff not known what the likely reaction would have been? Good Lord.

The President also admitted that he did not know Lonetta Menefee was promoted to regional manager of the Akron district of the US Post Office, despite the fact that the Postmaster General reports directly to the President!

What is wrong with this administration!

Bush knew! I don't know what Bush gains off this deal, but the Republican party is liable to be gutted and the Democratic majority will return to Washington. Damn!

Right now I feel the same way I did when Nixon became culpable for Watergate.

"not under my watch"
lets give a serial rapist the care of our 14 year old. sure he has done his time, paid his debt to society, but there is a higher probability of regression to his same old ways.

this may be fine and dandy for today. what is the probablility that the organizations are hijacked just like aircraft on 9/11?

Let the light shine in! More financial dealings will come to light. The congress will get to beat it's chest like it really does care or do anything to seal the ports or borders. /

Well. Now that the WH knows perhaps they'll work overtime to negate this stupidity!

Who in hell is responsible for NOT notifying the president?

Oh boy - just what the leftists need: "Bush is so inept - he doesn't even know what's going on!"

Why didn't these "White House" sources just shut up about this?

Unbelieveable

If he didn't even know about it why is he so hot to veto any attempt to block it?

Bush also didn't know about a budget snafu that caused a lab to be unfunded less than 3 days before he went to speak at that lab. Anyone who thinks the President of the United States is involved in every single decision that bears his signature is a towering ignoramus.

Foggy Bottom = Chinese Fire Drill.., Three Stooges go to Washington D.C., Keystone Cops entertain while the Mexican Border WALL is ignored because the Port Authority is more important.. Silly news lures the eye away from the important STUFF..

I think the "BUSH COULD NEVER MAKE A MISTAKE" worshipers are running out of excuses for the guy. Anybody ever think it might be HIM who's to blame this time? Maybe it's just that his true colors are starting to show.

White House: Bush Didn't Know About Port Deal.

This revelation hardly boosts confidence in the president. Bad PR move by the White House.

Moot point anyway. Bush supports the port deal so strongly that he has threatened to veto any legislation undercutting it.

But Bush insists this deal is well-scrutinized (like Harriet Miers?) and he is ready to pull out his veto pen for the first time, to defend it?

I fear this is going to get really, really nasty, and I don't mean just here at FR.

I kinda wondered about this. How many folks in the executive branch are a bunch of Carter/Clinton/Nixon holdouts that simply our enemy.
