Gov. Jodi Rell
(Brookfield-WTNH, Feb. 21, 2006 Updated 6:20 PM) _ A vehicle transporting Gov. Jodi Rell was involved in a crash this morning with a teen-aged driver, but there were no injuries, police said.
Governor Rell recalls the accident, "As we were almost at the end of the road, I actually looked up to see a car drifting over to see a car drifting over into our lane and I said, 'Oh!' (gasp) and the young man who was driving the car said, 'Oh' at the same time with me. We moved over to the side, almost onto the lawn; unfortunately, the car drifted over into the side of our car."

It was a rough ride for Governor Jodi Rell this morning. The state car had just pulled out of her driveway and was about one mile down the road when the accident happened.
"I got out and he came out on the driver's side... I mean on the passenger's side, went to make sure that the young lady was stopped and he was going to check on her. She was okay," says Rell.
The 17-year-old girl was on her way to high school when police say she crossed the center line and collided with the governor's state issued 2006 Cadillac.
"And she got out and said 'I have always wanted to meet the governor but not like this'. And I told her it's okay and I hugged her and I said 'It's a car'," says Rell.

The accident is getting attention because of the high-profile passenger. The governor kept her schedule and sympathizes with the young girl.
"I feel bad for the young lady. That's all. Let her... she feels bad enough today," says Rell.

Connecticut ping!
Please Freepmail me if you want on or off my infrequent Connecticut ping list.
Why did it take so long for her to report it to the press?
LOL... I assume you're kidding. This was all over the radio news reports today (Tuesday).
This is all due to the oil shortage resulting in inferior tires. Explanation--Bush's fault.
Did they give her a Breathalyzer?
Paging David Gregory...
hey! it's connecticut - we had a guy run into President Ford's car...
If at first you don't succeed
This is only one more example that the crap and restrictions on teen drivers DOESN'T WORK. CT is more restrictive on a new driver in 2006 than any other state AND LOOK WHAT HAPPENS.
But my guess is the liberals in Hartford will only use this accident as an excuse TO ADD and extend MORE restrictions on the teen drivers. Hey what not wait until a person is 18 til we license them; or even 21 or 25 -- YOU WILL SAVE LIVES. But if ones doesn't drive til they're 21, then their accident years will be from age 21 to age 24.
There is no replacement for EXPERIENCE, it comes in the first few years of anything.
I remember that incident pretty well. I think it happened in front of the old G. Fox store or garage in Hartford.
