Cheney has simultaneously expanded the power of the vice presidency and reduced its accountability. Because his health made him the first veep since ancient Alben Barkley (under Harry Truman) with no realistic chance of moving up, he felt he could change the rules. Fears of terrorism made his decision to go to an "undisclosed location" understandable, but he has taken secrecy about his whereabouts to inexplicable lengths. News organizations went along with this partly to save money by not sending reporters to cover his trips. They rationalized it by explaining that Cheney never said anything to reporters anyway.

Cheney is a mystery to many..Mary Matlin as his chosen spokesman..S Libby the whore for Marc Rich his chief of staff..Cheney is very private and moves in elite circles where the real power players make the decisions ..some suspect these decisions have goals other than those of the Constitution and protection of our country..so we get OPEN BORDERS, this port FUBAR..Wars with little public information as to the goals..hidden agendas , secret meetings all may be very above board and he may be a great patriot but making him one based on his record is a hard task..a confused conservative viewpoint as we have so much to guess at as to what he is doing.

I'm a conservative, and I'm obviously not getting the same viewpoint you are. I wonder how much of that could be brought about by where we get our information about him and this administration. Not meaning to argue....just have a different perspective on the Vice President.

as I said I am confused about him.his Choices for those around him..and his seeming lack of support for SECURE BORDERS You must admit his very private/ secret meetings make it easy for MSM to paint him as the puppet master to BUSH. Libby was very disturbing to me as is Matlin the wife of a rabid democrat..it points to my concern he is a washington elite who owes his loyalty to other than the grass roots GOP..He has added to this concern over the years by not being very forthcoming.
