"If scientists did not fear for their livelihoods and reputations, this list would be VASTLY larger."

I believe this to be a correct statement. Based upon the tone of ardent proponents of evolutionary theory, like "Right-Wing Professor", that are in academia. I would suspect that many would never risk expressing any doubts publically. BTW - I don't mean to pick on RWP, it is just he has made it perfectly clear that he has zero tolerance for anyone in "science" that doesn't agree with what he considers settled dogma. IF is is representative of others in academia, then it would be a career killer to stand up.

The idea that scientists really don't believe in evolution but are just "too afraid" to say so is bunk. Scientists are a competitive lot who live on the cutting edge, who dedicate their existence to challenging ways of thinking and discovering new things. If any of them found some sort of proof that unsettled Darwin, they would publish it. Everyone wants to be the next Einstein-toppling-Newton.

It's considered common curtesy to ping to the thread the poster you wish to talk about.

This would be most applicable in respect to climatologist.

As a matter of fact, when I was contacted by the president of my University's ID club to be their faculty advisor (he assumed that because I'm an outspoken conservative, I must be an IDer), I declined, of course, told the student I regard ID as unscientific and a Trojan Horse for creationism, but found them an advisor in another department. I have of course told said advisor that I disagree with his viewpoint, but we retain cordial relations, and I have never done anything to affect his professional standing. In fact, one of my kids did a research project with him (he's not in a biological science).

My animosity to IDers and creationists in general on this site is a result their obnoxious behavior and offensive views, not to my disagreement with ID in general. And your gutless ad hominem attack cited above is a prime example of such obnoxiousness. In fact, I will say that crevo threads here have almost eliminated the considerable regard and sympathy I had for conservative Christians a few scant years ago.
