Getting out of this isn't as easy as it seems. I am sure the administration would like to do so, but Dubai has been a pretty good ally in the war, and getting out of this would feed into the anti Arab reputation people like Gore have been spreading around the Middle East. How can you tell them no when Britain has ok'd the deal already?
What a mess! I fault the bureaucrats for being tone deaf and allowing this to go forward without alerting the administration. I also think that since Condi Rice ok'd it (according to what I've heard and that may not be accurate) she has demonstrated that she is also politically tone deaf.
I don't think there is a problem with this, but it causes too much political trouble.
