"If we are going to call George Washington's birthday "Presidents' Day", then it is only appropriate that we refer to the January 15 holiday commemerating MLK as "Activists' Day"!"


I do not refer to MLK at all. IMO revisionists and assasination have created a silk purse from a sow's ear.

In time Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton may well be as Mohammed is to the muslims.

While I do not begrudge others their hero's, I don't do Islam.

Actually, Washington's real birth date was February 11, 1732. At the time of Washington's birth, England and the American Colonies were on the Julian Calendar. Conversion to the Gregorian calendar occurred in 1752, by removing 11 days in September. Washington decided to convert his birthday as well, preferring to celebrate it on February 22 from then on.
