Egyptians flock to see 'divine messenger' calf (God's Reply to the Publication of Prophet Cartoons)

CAIRO -- Thousands of people flocked to southern Egypt on Monday to seek blessing from a calf that they believe was born as God's reply to the publication in Europe of cartoons depicting the Prophet, police said.

Some 20,000 thousand people had gathered in front of Mohammed Abu Dif's house in the village of Tunis to see the holy mammal, whose skin folds when he was born reportedly formed the words "There is no God but Allah", a police official said on condition of anonymity.

He said that the villagers flocked from all over the southern governorate of Sohag to the farmer's house and had to be dispersed by police, who feared that the gathering could get out of control.

Witnesses said that they believed that the calf was "Allah's response to current attacks against Islam", the official said.

He was referring to the publication in a Danish daily five months ago of cartoons depicting the Prophet Mohammed, which is banned in Islam.

Some of the caricatures portray Mohammed as a terrorist and have since been reprinted in scores of other European newspapers, sparking an unprecedented outcry in Muslim countries.

Tens of thousands of Muslims across the world have held demonstrations to protest against the cartoons, call for a boycott of Danish products and demand their countries sever ties with Denmark.

"Now I get it! When the calf empties its bowels, what do you see?

A Flower of Mohammad pastry!"

Yeah... with a cross on top.

Slap it in gold and there you go!

Silly muslims, they riot because some cartonist draws their false prophet and they have a strong prohibition against idol worship and then run off and worship an idol cow.

It just boggles the mind, it just does.

Psalm 106

19 At Horeb they fashioned a calf, worshiped a metal statue. 20

They exchanged their glorious God for the image of a grass-eating bull....

28 They joined in the rites of Baal of Peor, ate food sacrificed to dead gods.

"What is it with people worshipping cows?"

In ancient times people worshipped the goddess of the moon, among others. The horns on cows reminded people of the crescent moon, so cows became symbols of the moon goddess.

Aha, so its the moons fault. I knew the moon was treacherous, I just knew it. While anti God folks feel very free to disrespect those who worship God, I hear no such mocking directed toward cow or moon worshippers by the media. Most interesting.

Those people are totally insane. 20 thousand people showed up today. By tomorrow 20 million more will show up. Hopefully they will stampeed and kill a bunch of them. They will probably end up killing the poor little calf by trying to touch it for good luck or something.

Do you remember when Ayatollah Khomeini died in Iran and they were having to carry him over their heads to keep the people from touching him, and they dropped him onto the ground? LOL THAT was one of the funniest things that ever happened. To say they are fanatics is putting it mild.

Yes I know christians and jews have their own idolic idiosyncrocies. That really doesn't apply to this point which is that there are about a billion "fatwahs" prohibiting the depiction of the "prophet" because the Koran specifically forbids idol worship -- (you submit to Alah not some piece of wood). This is why they're all upset. Someone made depictions of the "prophet" which breaks about a billion fatwahs, and then turn around and worship a cow which, is pretty much straight out of the old testiment 40 days and 40 nights stuff.

Moooo.
