I suspect union labor costs and their stupid short magnum ammunition fiasco.
Marlin makes a better 30-30 anyway.
Ruger M77 Mark II's and Remington 700's are really cleaning Winchesters clock on quality and price.
My guess is that the "classics" will still be built in the future (keep in mind that the patents on them expired decades ago, its' the name that's copyrighted), but it'll be done in Belgium or Japan under the Browning name, which FN owns outright.
Because not many people are buying Winchesters. The latest issue of Field & Stream has a non-scientific poll on the most popular firearms. The Remington 700 rifle and 11* shotguns are far and away the most popular.
I bought a used Win 70 in 7mm mag with BOSS, and I love it. I'd like to see Winchester continue.
Because the two of you couldn't come up with the cash to buy the company yourselves.
