The same question I was going to ask but you beat me to it.
Listening to reporters repeat the same story about the hunting accident day after day is like listening to someone tell the same joke 50 times. People get tired of hearing about it after awhile but you can't tell a reporter that.
It's like the movie Groundhog Day.
The press will wake up tomorrow, be reminded that Whittington STILL isn't dead, and start the rehashing all over again.
