Latest Statement of Tehran and Suburbs Public Transport Trade Union

Thank you all the union workers around the world that in defense to Tehran and Suburbs Public Transport Trade Union announced a solidarity day on Feb 15th 2006 and expressed their protest to anti-union activity to the authorities of the Islamic Republic.
Tehran and suburb buss-driver union remind the 3 of its numerous needs
1. The Islamic Republic shall fully and officially recognize the union. 2. Without any conditions release detained union members. 3. To recognize and accept collective agreements.
The authorities of the Islamic Republic have declared that detainees can be released upon pledging against any union movement. The officials have declared even though that the regime has accepted the international agreement on union rights it (regime) dont see the any interest of union activity. Any union activity will be regarded as treason to the Islamic Republic and violators will be prosecuted.
Even though forced promised has been imposed on the union activist, Tehran and Suburbs Public Transport Trade Union recognize union activity as its rights according to international agreements, specifically article 87 and 98 of the International Labor Organization (ILO) and article 26 of Islamic Republics constitution.
We call all the union workers of the world to defend and support this right and come to support of Tehran and Suburbs Public Transport Trade Union.
We demand to have our Union rights recognized in accordance with above mentioned articles and hereby we ask the International communities and workers-unions around the world to demand the Islamic republic and the ministry of labor to take serious steps in this regard.
