There is no doubt in my mind that many were fully aware of Robinson's alcoholism, but they are busy pushing an agenda and that is all they care about.

""In his letter, Robinson, 58, says he has been dealing with alcoholism for years and had considered it 'as a failure of will or discipline on my part, rather than a disease over which my particular body simply has no control, except to stop drinking altogether.'"
Well then he is in for a rough recovery.

When this man passes away I fear he will have a great deal of explaining to do.

Sadly, that happens in all walks of life where substance abuse is concerned - whether its a small circle of friends trying not to deal with one member's issues or the corporate world or little old ladies in the neighborhood.

I've been sober for just over fifteen years and I've seen it all. Robinson's chances are very bleak in my opinion.

had considered it 'as a failure of will or discipline on my part Which also describes his homosexuality (or at least his openly practicing it while still acting as bishop)

"At New York's gay pride parade last spring, marchers and spectators crowded around him for more than three hours, reaching out to touch his hand, crying and thanking him." Does this refer to the bishop, or Rudy Giuliani?

I've been a sober member of AA for over fifteen years. There is absolutely no question in my mind that alcoholism is a three-fold disease of spirit, mind and body -- I know there are many (including a lot in AA) who disagree, I just have no interest in debating it with them.

He should seek treatment for both conditions.
To: gondramB
He has a dependence on alcohol, but not on God? Hmmmm.

Instead of the "Book of Daniel," I don't know why NBC didn't just do a series on the bishop's life. Sometimes, truth is stranger than fiction.

Congrats on your 15 years. Examples like that are needed.
I have a friend from school who was sober for 12 before falling off 3 years ago to drink, and more recently, to drugs. He has since put his family through pure hell; but I fear he has not reached bottom yet.

He should consider himself lucky getting all this love from the left. If he were a Catholic priest he would be tarred and feathered by now.
