Dune Lankard, an Alaskan environmental activist, is featured in an episode of "The Sierra Club Chronicles."
... The two liberal groups see this as only the beginning of more such shows to get their messages out.
"The Sierra Club Chronicles" is a monthly series ... It had its national premiere on the Link TV satellite channel last month; a new episode will be broadcast Sunday night on that network.
Both Court TV and Link are now showing "The ACLU Freedom Files," a series of 10 30-minute episodes featuring real cases... The series is also shown on Zilo TV, a college education network that provides programming to more than 5.5 million students across the country.
"This is a beginning," Mr. Greenwald, the producer and director of the documentaries "Outfoxed: Rupert Murdoch's War on Journalism" and "Wal-Mart: the High Cost of Low Price," said of the two shows.
"The constant conversation we were having," he said of people on the left, "was, we need to buy a television studio. ...
...Mr. Greenwald produced "Chronicles" (which cost the Sierra Club $750,000 for all seven episodes) through his company, Brave New Films...
...The shows cost the A.C.L.U. $2.2 million, Mr. Romero said, with $1.6 million for production expenses and $600,000 for promotion. ...
...Not everyone has applauded the idea. Tom Rosenstiel, director of the Project for Excellence in Journalism, a Washington-based research institute that is part of the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism, said that partisan organizations with their own shows just confuse viewers seeking unbiased information...
...Link TV, which broadcasts "Chronicles," is a noncommercial, independent network available in more than 26 million homes on the DirecTV and Dish satellite services....

BTW, I was very surprised to see Alec Baldwin come out of hiding, and recently post on the Huff Post, claiming VP Chency is a "terrorist." I guess it must be an election year!

"Dune Lankard" needs a haircut and a bath.
FYI re media.
Envirowhacks mobilizing to the media ping...
Though not well known by the masses, the elites know how to manipulate and control "the commoners" as the Bush-era rides off.
And if they are as successful as the women presidents on tv we won't be looking anything like Sweden soon ;)
In a prefect world there would be an epsisode of "Sleeper Cell" where the FBI plant is discovered because of leak to the LA Times.
I predict these two TV Series will be as successful as Air America Radio.
... partisan organizations with their own shows just confuse viewers seeking unbiased information...
Uh, I think the word is not "confuse". It's outrage.
I sought unbiased information from the major networks for years, until I gave up and stopped watching.
It's their money, so they can spend it as they like. However, it seems wasteful and duplicating existing outlets to buy a broadcast outlet when there is already PBS, ABC, CBS.....
Bingo! .. that is is what they are aiming at .. the young students that are just learning and don't know all the TRUE facts
After much thought, I think that anti-bundling regulations would cure a lot of this crap.
If I can drop a cable channel, or not subsidize it at all, then the market place will work better.
I know I would only get about seven channels if I could select them individually, and I'd rather not pay for the trash.
I wonder if these shows will be as ponderous and boring as listening to Air America. I'd actually listen to AA just to see what the other side is thinking, but they've managed to take the vibrant and exciting medium of talk radio and turn it into an audio version of root canal.
Or watch, so we can counter their arguments.
I suspect Catherine Crier has a hand in this.
More like, just beginning indoctrination.
I can hope that these shows are as ponderous as Air America, but I do respect Sierra Club and ACLU for their skills. ACLU is not going to talk about banning Christian icons and the Sierra Club is not going to mention loss of jobs from the Spotted Owl. Every show will be about some issue that can be shaped to have a villain and a victim. No gray, all black and white!
Yaeh, how come so many of them look like 50's Fidelistas?
