The week that was at the White House (David Gregory "blogs" his side of story)
MSNBC ^ | 2/17/06 | David Gregory

Posted on 02/18/2006 4:31:49 AM PST by frankjr

It's been a rough and tumble week in the White House press room over the Cheney hunting story. Many viewers have written me with praise and plenty of criticism about my questioning of press secretary Scott McClellan.

Let me say at the outset that I was wrong to lose my temper at Scott McClellan. I've worked well with Scott since we first met during the 2000 campaign. Monday, he suggested my aggressive questioning about the disclosure of the hunting accident was a stunt for the cameras. He said this during a morning OFF CAMERA briefing, which undercut his point. Furthermore, I considered it a cheap shot. I said, "Don't be a jerk to me personally, just answer the question." I regret saying that because it's never appropriate to speak that way and because it created a distraction from the issues at hand.

Putting that aside, I do not apologize for asking tough questions about this story. I'm in the business of getting information -- as much of it as possible....I have not made any judgments about the facts of this story as it pertains to what happened on the Armstrong ranch....Mr. Cheney, in my view, acted as if he had something to hide.

Yet the debate playing out in the blogosphere, cable airwaves and on talk radio pits the Vice President against an allegedly left-wing, overly cynical, prissy White House press corps in a tizzy because it wasn't the first to know and angry because it hates the President and Vice President anyway. This is nonsense....Have you Googled transcripts from the Clinton administration at the height of the Lewinsky scandal?

I called his number and told the gal who answered to let David know there is treatment for PMS. She had a good laugh!

LMAO! I love it!

It might be regional....I live in NY and it's all over this area - bars, Sam's Club, grocery stores both large and small.........it's everywhere.

Are you a registered Democrat, Mr. Gregory?

Which presidential candidate did you vote for in 04? 00? 96? 92?

Do you typically vote for Democrats or Republicans?

You claim to be a neutral observer. Prove it.

What are you hiding, Mr. Gregory? Why won't you answer the questions? The public has the right to know.

David Gregory is just a slobbering prestitute who thinks his height gives the impression of intelligence.

The better comparison is to the sounds of silence from the press after news of Bill Clinton's alleged rape became public. The press corps was all over that one (not!)...

Why doesn't this jerk ask Gore the hard questions - about why he went to the Saudis to trash his country and how much he got paid to do it? Or in a time of war, it isn't an issue when a former VP gets paid big time by the Bin Laden family?

As far as Mr. Cheney's situation, it was an accident. If Cheney had killed a woman by letting her drown, like Kennedy did, there wouldn't have been "hard" questions from the press. There would have been NO questions from the press. Pull the clips. Look at how they treated that situation. The MSM didn't care. Not one bit. And they still don't care. It was old news before Mary Jo quit breathing. There was the usual press fretting about another Kennedy tragedy - as if he was the victim. Talk of a compound, crying about the loss of "Camelot" and the usual kiss butt reaction of the press when a Kennedy is mentioned. No hard questions. Those are only for Republicans. What a jerk this so called reporter (correction: stenographers for the democrats) is -- it's a new low for an already disgraced MSM...

Yep, first time this dweeb got anything right. He describes the White House prestitutes to a tee.
Left wing
Overly cynical
Prissy
Angry and hates...

I was calling him Dick Gregory too. Now was it a mistake or a subliminal comment?

I can see where you might be confused.

Hi Unkosified - I finally found one other Pampers coupon and mailed the two of them in yesterday.

He certainly used up a lot of words here in his indefensible defense, didn't he? He is under the illusion that we didn't actually see his behavior for ourselves.

Oh geeze - thanks for the address and idea. Now I am spurred on to find some more Pampers coupons and maybe a noopy (pacifier) this time.

Cool! Great job on the coupons. We need to keep this up. Did you read the earlier posts about getting rattles and pacifiers from the dollar store for these lame babies? :)

Yeah, I guess Dick, uh, I mean David thinks were were momentarily blinding when he threw his little baby hissy fit.

"Have you Googled transcripts from the Clinton administration at the height of the Lewinsky scandal?"

I left a comment on the blog (wonder if they'll print it) to the effect that comparing a hunting accident to the defining moment of the Clinton presidency is preposterous.

Who the hell do these clowns think they are fooling?
