"There really isn't any major rival in the Pacific Northwest."
That may be so. However, from the border on down to the South, the wacko fagbags are West of the mountains. Once you get to the East of the mtns, both the climate and the people improve dramatically. Therefore, why not memorialize Pappy at some uni in Spokane: it's on the right, not the left, side of the state?
Not entirely true. The Kitsap Peninsula and parts of Tacoma tend to have a lot of conservatives due to the large military presence. While I'm not a Washington native (I originally came from Montana), I've come to believe that a roughly 60 mile radius around the city of Seattle (obviously excluding parts of Tacoma and the Kitsap Peninsula enclosed) contains the vast majority of liberal fruitcakes in the state. If it weren't for the western half of King county I think Washington would be a very conservative state.
