I think Mr. Libby's attorneys have "boxed" Mr. Fitzgerald (who is supposed to be really smart-NBC News) into a proverbial corner. Now Fitz is damned if he does, and damned if he doesn't. Couldn't happen to a better fool.

I AGREE .. the guy never even investigated the issue - who released the name. My goodness - I thought this guy was supposed to be such a hot shot - evidently not!

The famous Fitz Conference opened the door for a lot of this. In the idictment, Fitz didn't really address the underlying crime. But in the Fitz Conference, he did accuse Libby of leaking the name of a "classified" operative and other stuff that wasn't addressed in the indictment.
I wouldn't be surprised if Fitz wants out of all of this and is just looking to save face.
