Not what is happening. The UAE company purchased a company with contracts to operate ports - not control them. The US cannot shoot down this merger. The only thing that could happen is for the ports to decide to cancel the contract with the British company being acquired. Unless the contracts had an M&A provision the ports WILL be slammed with penalties.

The ports are trying to skate on this and old Schummer and Santorium are pandering to the locals. You've been duped. This is about contract law and idiots and crooks in the Ports Authorities.

Operate. Control. Both involve authority; it's just a matter of degree. Word parsing is not going to make this go away.
