She was absorbing the shock of falling in love with someone so quickly.

I read where she had somewhat reconciled herself not to marry.

Then, she had always disliked politics, and his family was all about politics.

Lastly, she had resisted her friends' (the O'Neils) pleas to let them arrange a meeting between her and W. She kept saying they had little in common from what she thought she knew of his background and family.

Truth is, for Laura, three months was very, very FAST.
