I watched Fox, of course, for Harry Whittington's speech but tuned in to see what CNN had to say afterwards. The reporter standing outside in Cheyenne commented on the speech, and said that there are "people who still wonder why it took the Vice President four days to admit his responsibility for this shooting."

I agree that Mary is very devoted to the VP and his family. I had not heard of her role in what he did afterward, but I have heard from multiple sources that he took the incident quite hard. And you could tell he did from his interview on Fox. BTW, did I have Harry Whittington pegged or what? He came across exactly as I just knew he would, and I was not aware of his existence before this whole crazy thing broke.

I, too, appreciate the courtliness of a true Southern gentleman such as Mr. Whittington. Boys learned that from their fathers and grandfathers in times past. It's another sad example of the devolution of our culture that his demeanor is so striking in its rarity.

I was busy getting ready for work when the announcement came that the VP was going to speak to the Wyoming legislature after Harry Whittington spoke in Texas. I'm sure the implication the news twits wanted the public to draw was that the VP might resign or something. However, the first question that came to my mind was whether or not the speech had been on his schedule.
Seems that it was, and it's purpose was related to the UWY grant. Undoubtedly the Cheney papers will go to the UWY when he leaves office. Perhaps the grant is the first step in the process of setting up the necessary facilities to house such an important collection.
LOL.... you should move the volleyball court off the horseshoe area.

Peach typed up a transcript of Whittington's comments above - since everyone is out of D.C. today, it may be a bit slower for the VPOTUS and POTUS comments - chalk it up to the VAST RIGHT-WING CONSPIRACY ; )
