The "FRIENDSHIP (LAPEL) PIN"
While commenting on another FR thread this past night/morning, I did a basic search for lapel pins that would show support when worn by us Americans for Denmark, and this is the most interesting result I found, the "Friendship Pin" from a U.S. company ("flagline.com")-- who also sells very well done American flags and many other interesting things.
But, as to Denmark items, they offer the Danish flag on cloth, nylon and on dedicated lapel pins, too. I happen to really like this "Friendship Pin," however, and think it really makes the right message.
"Mozart wrote this piece in four flats...because he moved three times."
Do they also have a friendship pin with the US and Iranian flags together?? ;-)
Who would want one of those? I didn't see one but feel free to peruse -- it's not my site, just one I found by mere chance.
Yeah, I read about that a week or so ago. Initially they said that Danish pastries in Iran were to be called "muhammadines" or something stupid similarly.
"a week or so ago"
Am I late or what ;)
I'd suggest everyone pass on that Iran version. Or else wear it upside down or Iran's side splattered with paint or...
bump for publicity
They also have a USSR/US label pin. LOL. Yeah, what a great friendship that was!!
I can imagine that Iranians in exile would wear those.
Yeah, late but it wasn't as if it was big news a week ago...just that it was written in among one of the many articles coming out in the few days after the Danish cartoonjihad started, like last weekend or thereabouts. I remember it only because I thought it was particularly stupid. Stupid, as if no one in Iran is going to know that they are NOT eating a Danish just because they're calling it something else. Stupid...
I think they should encourage their people to wear Danish by whatever name instead of explosives. Now THAT would be not stupid, but smart.
Yeah, like I wrote, the list of available "friendship" includes just about every possible combination, now that I looked (earlier link). U.S. and Pakistan, U.S. and Syria, etc., seems bizaare.
I'm surprised they haven't starting baking pastries in the shape of mini IEDs
I could really use a piece of kringle for breakfast right about now...
Yeah, me, too. All this talk about pastries...
Yes, nice, thanks!
Doh! I always mix the two up. Mostly, when I hear the word "danish", it makes me think of Ty Webb's quote of Basho....
A flute with no holes is not a flute. A donut with no holes is a danish.
Don't feel badly. I made the same mistake earlier elsewhere and only realized the distinction between the two nations after another FRer pointed out the discrepancy.
They have a US and Palestine friendship one too!
