Gay principals soon take helm at both Newton high schools By , Globe Staff | February 16, 2006

The new principals at both of Newton's high schools are young, energetic, and eager to start meeting people in their schools.

They are also both openly gay.

Brian Salzer, 38, who will be the principal at Newton South High School, comes from Sauk Prairie, a small Wisconsin school district near the state capital of Madison, and was the first openly gay principal in Wisconsin.

Jennifer Price, 34, is a doctoral student at Harvard's Graduate School of Education who lives in Newton with her spouse and their two young children. She takes over at Newton North High School in July.

Teacher contracts used to have as one reason for firing was "moral turpitude". Is this term used in contracts in that state?

Does her "spouse" know she is openly gay?

This is Massachusetts my friend....*NEWTON* Massachusetts.I have a hunch that her "spouse" lacks a Y chromosome.

And as for the kids,I'd say that the Dad is a turkey baster.

In Newton,"morality" is such a judgmental concept...and so 1950's.

Sadly, the concept of SHAME has disappeared from our culture. I'm all for bringing back public stocks myself.

I would know just by looking at them that they're both homosexuals.

Sadly, the concept of SHAME has disappeared from our culture.

I lived in Newton for the first 33 years of my life and have lived within 10 miles of Newton for my entire life and I can assure you that concepts like "shame' and "morality" are reviled in Newton,a city that Barney Frank and Ted Kennedy carry with 90% of the vote and that The Former Twelfth Lady will carry with 95% of the vote in a few years.

In a normal city that would be the case, but if you refer to post #30,you'll get an idea of why that's very probably not the case today in Newton.

''As a coach and a teacher and an administrator, it's not been an issue," he said.

'Boy, having that is certainly a draw," Salzer said.

I refuse to believe this Freudian slip was real, and that the author or editor didn't add it to be provocative.

I'm sure they do. Commit a moral crime like saying a prayer or voting Republican and you'll be fired on the spot.
