Sometimes the most "experienced" candidate does not get the nod - see Reagan vs. Carter - that's just politics. If nothing else happens to Reed, he's getting the nomination - I am sorry for the kegel comment above - we'll have to see what happens after that leading up to the general election.
Who said Reagan was less experienced than Carter ? Reagan had been the Governor of the largest state in the nation for 8 years. Carter had been Governor of a moderate-sized state running a racist campaign to even win a 1-term job in which he could boast of no accomplishments and had been a grotesque failure during his term as President. I'd surely say Reagan was far more experienced than Carter was.

Well, if Reed gets the nod, we'll all have to bite the bullet and get behind him, and he might get in on Purdue's coattails (Purdue will win by at least 15%, especially if his opponent is Mark Taylor), but he still makes me very nervous. Most of those Republicans serving in the State Senate have let it be known that they prefer to have Cagle in the job, someone whom has made it plain and clear that they are committed to that job and not just "holding it" for 4 years so they can run for the job they really covet.
Personally, I want to see Cagle to hold the job for at least 8 years because the man I want to see succeed Purdue as Governor in 2010 is Herman Cain (hopefully joining the pantheon of 2, and maybe 3, Black Republican Governors).
