Iranians are doing an American type protest.
It's great.
It's sooooooo much better than the rent-a-crowd, burn a flag, shoot guns in the air crap. This protest is modern, sophisticated and fun.
Freedom fries anyone?

Iran's Danish renaming wasn't the first time a food name has become a symbol of protest. A Republican congressman from North Carolina helped lead an effort to make sure Capitol Hill cafeterias changed their menus to advertise "freedom fries" instead of french fries after France opposed the U.S.-led invasion of Iraq.
Oh no, not this crud again. I remember the whole "freedom fries" thing. I ran into some waitress that called them "freedom fries", and she gave me this little speech (that sounded rehearsed) about "France left us so we only sell Freedom Fries". I tried to explain that they weren't invented in France, and that the french aspect of the name was in reference to the manner in which they were cooked, and if they were going to rename them, they might as well rename them to "chips" as that's what the Brits call them, but it was all completly lost on this person (I don't think her family tree branched all that much).
Iran is grasping at every straw it can to prove to the Islamic world that it's valiantly standing up for Islam.
They've taken it to a level I haven't seen since Khomeini was around.

One crucial factor I accidently left out of my "freedom fries" story, to put it in perspective.
We were outside of Paris, Texas.
My wife, having a streak of sarcasm a mile wide, talked to the waitress about how disgraceful it was that the citizens of Paris, TX would not rename their city to something more appropriate like "Freedomville".

No, but they sell the 'Great Satan's Cheese' next to the 'Lapdog of the Great Satan Muffins'.
