Actually, it doesn't really bother me all that much. For one thing, wearing the CCCP logo tells the world a lot about the Cold War, i.e. we're still here, they aren't, and the kid is from the country that can explain why the USSR died. I don't think the kid is endorsing Stalin or Marxist-Socialist-tyranny; just the outstanding skaters which came out of the old USSR.

Disclaimer: I AM an old cold warrior, and have no confidence in Russia's "Putin Democracy". But my then 15-year-old daughter was there two years ago to help start a Christian church and tour the public schools there with her Christian choir (something she can't do in the USA). So, I guess I'm a "soft" hard-line cold warrior.

Now, if the guy goes off into a Socialist-unity political rant, or wears the CCCP jacket on the podium, I'm gonna have to pull out MY OLD uniform, and go after him.

Yeah, I suspect he probably isn't consciously endorsing the old Soviet Union. I hope not anyway. It just makes me angry that people wear symbols like "CCCP" and the hammer and sickle as if they were some sort of fashion statement. Go tour a major college campus sometime and see what I mean. In a just world (ie one where the left didn't control academia and actually taught the truth about the Soviet Union) those symbols would be as universally reviled as the swastika.
