If you do something stupid and somebody dies as a result, you could be prosecuted for negligent homicide, whether your name is Dick Cheney the Veep or Joe Blow the ragpicker. This is a sound principle, but (as I noted) is being used to whip up witless hype by the author.
Shouldn't the Associated Press disclose the fact that David Finn, Fort Worth Texas criminal defense lawyer, who they name in this article as the "expert" is married to Melissa, editor at The Associated Press in Dallas?!
Right...and if Cheney dies of a heart attack, Whittington could be prosecuted for popping up from the bushes and scaring him half to death.
But, it is the vice president. You know, the politician in the highest level of the government. Shouldn't he receive special treatment?
He is given special treatment both by the Republicans and the media(Democrats). Republicans are sticking with their making excuses and even blaming the guy who got shot. And the media(Democrats) are smelling blood and are all over it.
I mean, if it were some Joe Blow accidentally shooting somebody, I'm sure nobody here would be so defensive about the possibility of a prosecution, nor they would ask for blood in the media.
Such as driving drunk with your mistress back from the beach at night, plunging your car over the side of a bridge, getting out and walking to a friend's house to sleep it off, and letting your mistress drown when the pocket of air she is trapped in leaks out over the course of several hours? Is that the kind of stupidity you are referring to that you can be prosecuted for?
