Pappy Boyington was a tough dude!
I remember seeing him put a battery on his shoulder and daring someone to knock it off.
And then there was the time he used a special knife that fit into his cowboy boots to cut a rope and free his partner Artemus from a certain death!
Whatta man!

Boortz lurks on FR. He must, he's always several days behind what Freepers already know.

Who here among us can claim to be a perfect person? I'm not and I would bet battleships to donuts that there is not a perfect person on all of Free Republic... Or on the entire Earth!
Pappy Boyington was not the character played by Robert Conrad on the TV series. Pappy was a drunkard, a womanizer and one of those guys that never really grew up... I confess I have many bad qualities in common with Major Boyington.
Yet he was a warrior, a United States Marine Corps Warrior. Blooded in vicious combat in what the liberals hold their nose and call 'The Good War.'
Pappy Boyington won the Navy Cross and the Medal of Honor not for his personality or personal charms or faults...
They were awarded for his bravery above and beyond the call of duty in the highest traditions of the Marine Corps.
To not honor Pappy Boyington's military service is to denigrate each and every man or woman who every wore a military uniform in defense of the nation.
That is just what the liberals in our mist want... And If there is anything I can do about it, they will never succeed!

Then the lovely Jill Edwards said that a member of the Marine Corps was not an example of the sort of person the University of Washington wanted to produce. As an alumnus of the University of Washington, I submit that it is the likes of Jill Edwards that is not the sort of person that the UW should want to produce.
