I don't agreee ... If Cheney resigns due to health reasons now... the media will tear him up over this hunting issue and their new perception of a secretive whitehouse. The conspiracy buffs will go nuts and the media will blame his secretive white house as the problem... and whoever the President appoints will be in a tough position to run in 08 after all this drama...

I *LOVE* that woman!!!!! And I love James Carville too, but don't shoot me**. I just think it is entirely AMAZING that they can be so happy together with what each of them do for a living.
Anyone ever watch them on K Street?
** - I love James Carville for who he is, not what he believes or what he does. While I may disagree on most of his political stances, I admire his b@lls, his character, and his humour!

I had to reinstitute the "Cuss Jar" in our house over this one.
The level in the jar is already rising.

I like good-natured people who do LOL's - I don't see your problem there.
"I think we all have to admit that it's a bit tough to find a Cheney shot, uh, photo where he's not sneering. He has never exactly exuded warmth and good humor,IMHO"
However, your words as quoted above don't express a sense of humor from you as you are now trying to claim?
Whatever.
What may be a sneer to you is nothing more than serious expression from the VP. But I hope he was sneering when he told Leahy what he could do. :o)

I think he should consider it. It's a privilge to serve not a right, thats what seperates us from leftist. What is best for the country and the administration needs to be thought of. Cheney stepping down would only strengthen Republican chances in the future anyway.
That is pure nonsense. It's not a mere privilege for a Vice President to serve - the Vice President was elected by the American public to serve as Vice President for four full years, absent death, incapacitation, poor health or impeachment. He's done nothing illegal or impeachable here. Not being proactive with the egomaniacal White House Press Corps might not be smart politics. But it sure isn't a crime.
Vice President Cheney isn't resigning any time soon. Nor should he.

I don't think people have even considered that he hasn't had time to waste on the Washington Press Idiot Corps, because he's been over in Congress saving the NSA program . . . to save the sorry posteriors of said reporters (along with the rest of D.C.)

I didn't write that he should resign now. In fact I wrote that he should NOT resign over this manufactured scandal. This non-story will go away in a few days.
I just always thought that in the last year of the Bush Presidency that Cheney would resign, give health as athe reason and allow a the President to help a 2008 nominee get some exposure as White House material.
If it were up to me I would choose Cheney as my President in 2008. Alas, he doesn't want the job, so make way for someone who does.

Not being proactive with the egomaniacal White House Press Corps might not be smart politics. But it sure isn't a crime. That is a very good way to put it. These people are our version of a mini Al Qaeda. "You better do things the way we want you to do them or we will throw a big, fat hissy fit and do everything we can think of to damage you. In fact, we just plain don't like you, so we will do everything we can think of to damage you anyway." Cheney knew this was coming, and he just decided to do things in the right way, in accordance with his own lights.
