The APKWS II
is a 2.75-inch laser-guided rocket that will provide crews of the U.S. Army Apache and Marine Corps Cobra attack helicopters and other platforms with precision-strike capability against non-armored targets that do not require a 7-inch HELLFIRE missile – an option not presently available.

Shoulda gone with Brimstone. Hellfire & Brimstone makes a cool sounding weapons package to hang off the wing an Apache.

Hellfire Jr. sounds like something off the dollar menu at a drive-through.

Just as a curiosity for the technogeeks out there, but if one put up a smoke-screen opaque to the laser, would the system be able to target?

Hellfire means never having to say you're sorry.

I'm sure this will be another in a long line of Army munitions success stories. The Hellfire is so reliable and deadly that ALL of the US Armed Forces have adopted it as an anti-tank/anti-armor/anti-bunker weapon for a wide variety of platforms.

GO ARMY!!!

"This long series of successful tests has validated key design and performance discriminators, demonstrating the unequalled maturity and lowest risk of our solution"

God, I hate PR writing.

I'm just thinking that the Apache could carry 76 of these puppies instead of a 16 Hellfire loadout.

That's some serious pinpoint killing power.
